Cape Gooseberry

Botanical name is Physalis peruviana

The Cape Gooseberry is a perennial shrub with soft leaves that originally came from Peru.  The plant grows to about one metre by one metre, and grows from seeds.  The fruit are sweet, round yellow fruit about two centimetres in size, which ripen inside a papery husk.  The fruit can be eaten raw or used in desserts or jams.
